Weekend Sundries

3rd September 2013

So, dear readers, I’ve been holding out on you. I haven’t been reading much lately…and certainly not blogging much. Part of that is because school just began, and I’ve got lots to do. But part of it is because there may be a boy – a really sweet, cute one – around these parts.

My weekend consisted of going to L’Auberge du Lac in Lake Charles, Louisiana to listen to him play piano at a wine bar, reading a bit, going to a pool party, and then catching up on household chores Monday and playing/constructing Legos with him (a rather strange but fun little pasttime). All in all, a fun little weekend to cap off the summer, though of course our hot weather will continue well into October with hopefully a few cool spells.

The sofa I wanted to steal. Sooo perfect for reading.

pg5

A little g&t on a hot summer night.

pg4

Some pretty cool art in one of the restaurant areas.

pg3

Odd little detail on the dome ceilings – twigs that looked like a nest.

pg2

A little slot machine action.

pg1

Star Wars Legos. Methinks a viewing may be in my future.

I’m ready to get back into my reading groove – I’m so ready for fall weather and a little rain – but what have you been up to? Read anything good? Watched any good shows? I’ve missed you guys. Spill the beans.

  • A sweet and cute piano player? This sounds promising. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve just been reading the second book in the Walt Longmire mysteries and working.

    • A sweet and cute piano player who likes to dance….

Is that Longmire connected to the TV show? And how is work going?

      • Yes, the TV series is based on the books. The books are really good; Craig Johnson’s an awesome writer.
        Work is… going. lol

  • This guy in your life sounds like a keeper. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, let’s see–I’m reading The Sweet Streeper and it’s VERY good. I’m also reading The Talisman and it’s also VERY good.

    • I started that one a while back but put it down because I was super busy. I need to pick it up again. So glad you’re reading VERY GOOD books. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Meg-A Bookish Affair

Ooo, sounds like a good weekend to me! A piano playing guy? That sounds wonderful ๐Ÿ™‚

    • ๐Ÿ™‚ It was a really great weekend. I hope yours was too!

  • Charlie

With your recent tweet about him and now the piano playing, he sounds a good guy ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I’ll just say I have no complaints. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Amy Shamroe

Oh! A piano playing boy who gives you time to read and plays Legos! How wonderful for you! Where did you find him??

After a reading hiatus myself, I have really gotten into Night Film. We had a couple days of autumn like weather here and it really set the mood.

    • Haha! It is pretty shocking. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve heard such great things about Night Film. I’m definitely going to have to get it.

  • I too am intrigued with a piano-playing, Lego-playing sweet guy!! fun! Have been in a bit of a reading funk and a migraine of late hasn’t helped! :/

    • I’m so sorry. That suuuucks. I hate getting migraines.

  • I’m loving your blog and didn’t realise you were from Louisiana. So am I although I don’t live there anymore. I live in Normandy. I found you through Booklover Book Reviews.

    • pickygirl

Well, I’m close to Louisiana, but I actually live in Southeast Texas. And thanks!
