See This, Not That – Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing

2nd July 2013

Have you guys seen this preview yet?

Because all I have to say about that, is this:

I mean, really.
And if you haven’t seen the latter version, I urge you to spend your pennies and rent it because it’s just the best. I may or may not have spent a week my freshman year in high school watching this over and over again. It’s pretty amazing.

Well, we are a pro-Joss Whedon household, so I will be interested in seeing the new version of MAAN. Plus, the latter version does have KEANU REEVES, so it’s not exactly faultless… ๐Ÿ˜‰

That said, I agree that the Branagh version is a classic. I don’t know that this new version is either: a) necessary, or b) an improvement on something that didn’t need improving, but I think they can both exist and serve different purposes.

    • Drat! I was hoping no one would notice Keanu. But seriously, he doesn’t get much screen time, and damn, Kenneth and Emma have some great chemistry in this.

Amy Acker is just…meh. I’m not a fan. And the preview doesn’t do her any favors. I’ll likely still see it because I love this play, but I also want people to be aware that this other version exists. It’s too darn good not to. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, Immagonnahafta watch both thems, friend. The new one does look really good to me, but having never seen the old, I feel I should start there. Thanks for the recommendation (s)!

    • Definitely start with the old one! It’s so so good.

  • How have I never seen that one (the Emma Thompson version)?! Holy crow–I need to watch that.

    • I DON’T KNOW! Go watch it. Stat. Ooh, maybe we should have a Twitter watch?

      • Yes, yes! Let’s plan a Twitter watch!

  • Jennifer Hartling

I want to see both of these! Now!

    • Do it! Do it!

  • Gah, I adore that film. Adore. I could rewatch it 8 times in a row and be very happy. In fact, I might watch it tonight now!

    • Seriously. It’s just…the best. Funny, sweet, sexy. Good stuff.

Wow there are a lot of awesome people in that older one. I want to see both of them NOW!

    • It’s a fantastic cast, truly. And such an enjoyable adaptation.

  • But . . . Joss Whedon!!!?? It will be rockin’ no matter.
