I Solemnly Swear I Am Up to No Good…

27th July 2011

If, that is, you consider non-stop reading as “no good.” I have been a bit down for various reasons lately, and after seeing the last Harry Potter film, I decided I needed to start back at the beginning of the series. I have owned all the books at some point, but after lending them to different people over the years, only one is left on my shelves, so I went down to my library and checked them all out.

Since Friday, I have read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and I am halfway finished with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I am thoroughly enjoying my re-read, and I feel like a kid again when summer reading meant reading to the exclusion of all else until Mom made me go play outside.

I hope you’ll stick around. Right now, I just need this escape into something other than my real life. I will return once I can safely say “Mischief Managed.”

This is certainly a good “no good” thing! I recently convinced a friend from college to finally read these, and she, too, is blazing through them (she just started Order of the Phoenix).

I read/listened to Deathly Hallows again before the last movie (I didn’t read the whole series again because I read them all before Deathly Hallows Part 1), and I’m thinking it’s only a matter of time before I read them again. Hope you enjoy your visit to Hogwarts!

    • I think it’s a good “no good” thing, too! I’m thoroughly enjoying myself. Thanks so much.

  • I just read all of them this year after reading the first one years ago and finally wanting to read all of them and see all of the movies before the final movie came out. I can’t believe I waited this long. They were amazing…

    • I know. I so love these books, and they really bewitch me. I cannot stop reading, even though I’ve read them all at least twice before. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • How wonderful to re-read them all together… and wishing you the best with your mischief management.

  • my book affair

Sweet bliss! Have you been in bed reading, sitting in one armchair or are you wandering about from room to room? I need a visual ๐Ÿ™‚ I love just sitting in one place – feigning invalidity – but I can never get away with it for too long. Lucky you ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Mostly I’ve been in the front bedroom, propped with pillows. But if I get uncomfortable in my laziness, I’ll move to a different chair. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I heartily approve of this plan of action! I definitely intend to start a re-read through this series once I’ve cleared up some of my other blogging obligations… but in the mean time, I’m rewatching the films. Yesterday was Chamber of Secrets… the actors were so tiny!

    • I know! When I see pictures from when they were younger, it’s unbelievable to me. You definitely need to do a re-read. But be prepared to not want to do anything else.
